Ferran Collado Arasa – Bauporró

An object drawn from our collective imagination seen through the eyes of the Bauhaus.

Ferran Collado, with the legacy of a family of glassmakers behind him, had no doubt in his mind that he wanted to following in the footsteps of past generations. His contribution to this legacy has been his work as a glassblower. After having trained at two prestigious schools of glassmaking in Barcelona and Segovia, he went on placements in the United States, Italy and Finland, following which he took over the family workshop. Since then, he has built up a reputation as a leading craftsman amongst designers and artists who want to carry out glasswork projects. Collado is responsible for making concepts a reality, based on ideas that very often have to be adapted to the complex ins and outs of glassblowing, but that also allow him to explore its limits and possibilities.

Bauporró is a blown glass wine pitcher inspired by the style of Bauhaus geometry. It was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement. The piece combines expertise in glassblowing, the legacy of the traditional wine pitcher that plays a huge role in the collective imagination and a homage to the shapes and radical nature of Walter Gropius’ school in the Weimar Republic.
