Enric Montferrer

Enric Pla Montferrer (1969, Lluçà,) master craftsman forger and sculptor, trained at the Escuela de Arte, Vic and the ‘Centro Internacional de Arte e Investigación, La Rectoria,’ in Sant Pere de Vilamajor. He is an artist in love with fire and uses the force of this element to transform iron, creating a small universe of sinuous and poetic works, full of sensitivity and emotions.

Heir to modernist trends and passionate about Antoni Gaudí, he coordinates the forging projects of the Sagrada Familia temple in Barcelona, where he has works of great beauty.

His mastery of the technique and the message transmitted by his works have earned him international recognition with the Richard H. Driehaus Award and the representation of the Catalan forge at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington in 2018.

He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and has works in different spaces, both public and private. He lives and works in Alpens, where every two years he coordinates an international meeting of forgers, who have turned the region of El Lluçanès into an outdoor forging museum.
