Lluís Comín

Lluís Comín Vilajosana (1958, Barcelona,) began his relationship with jewellery from a young age, in his father’s workshop. This playful act, paved the way to becoming a jeweller in a natural way. He learned the trade from his father, but it was at the Escuela Massana where he began to shape concepts that he sensed intuitively, with a young Ramón Puig as a teacher. He is also a gemologist from the Universidad de Barcelona.

His intention has always been to make jewellery that is not only mere ornamentation, as a means of artistic expression with all its consequences; but it is from the tradition that it advances towards the contemporaneity. The mountain is a source of inspiration and on many occasions he incorporates elements that come from it, as a way of connecting with a very dear world.

His pieces are represented in various private collections in the US and Europe, also in various museums. He is a member of the governing board of the JORGC (Col·legi de Joiers de Catalunya) from which he received the 2017 Craft Award.
