Germán Consetti

Germán Consetti (1975, Argentina,) born in Río Cuarto, has lived and worked in Barcelona since 2000. Trained at the Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto, Argentina, he studied contemporary sculpture and later, drawing at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc, in Barcelona. Proposing works of art as elements for self knowledge, he unites the formal and aesthetic search in sculpture with a strong conceptual significance, claiming a new space in contemporary art. This position is not new in the history of art. Great artists have travelled in this search for self knowledge through art, from the first representations in the Neolithic to the evocative force of symbolism or abstraction in modern art. For Consetti, the definition of works of art, are born from the dialogue between the creator and the consciousness of the work itself. The intentionality that permeates in matter without form activates the manifested object. The artist questions the observer with universal questions that have been permeated in the work, offering the viewer points of resonance with the transcendent.
