Mia Llauder

Mia Llauder (1962, Barcelona,) is a member of the Academia Internacional de la Cerámica, IAC. She trained in the Escuela Massana, specialising in ceramics, and holds the artisan accreditation card. Since 1998 she has been a teacher in the ceramic workshop school of the Museo del Cántaro de Argentona. Since 2001 she has coordinated and curated ceramic exhibitions, and since 2002 she has collaborated in the organisation of ‘Arcilla Argentona’, and develops a pedagogical task around the promotion of ceramics. Together with Joan Serra she has created the brand Ixión, pieces with a functional concept but of great formal subtlety.

“… Porcelain pieces that are repeating, that come from the past and meet again later. Elements that have been made over the years, incorporated into a sample of basic units that Llauder keeps in a typographer’s chest of drawers, and that, like the lead letters of a graphic artist, are linked together, lining up to write her stories.” (Fragment of a text by Anna Pujadas for the Retrats catalogue)
