Eliurpi SL – Table Basse / Furniture ELIURPI
Their work is the result of bringing together worthy, quality handmade craftwork.
The creative duo, Eli Urpí and Nacho Umpiérrez, draw on a wide range of skill sets such as architecture and abstract art. Their work is the result of bringing together worthy, quality handmade craftwork, and the mark that these creators leave on their designs. Another source of inspiration enters into play: the Bauhaus. This school of architecture, art, design and craft was founded at the beginning of the 20th century in Germany. Once of its main rationales was that there was no difference between a craftsperson and an artist, and that an artist is an exalted craftsperson.
Table Basse is a set of low tables and stools made of wood and woven straw. Falling between a sculpture and piece of furniture, Table Basse forms a self-contained space, whilst suggesting other ways of living in the home that give rise to domestic rituals inherent to the oriental tradition.
